Lexus Tarts Up a Handful of New ISs—and an LFA! [2013 SEMA Show]

With a sporty, rear-drive layout, compact dimensions, and plenty of go-fast mods available in the aftermarket, it’s easy to see why the eminently driftable Lexus IS carries so much street cred. The all-new third-generation IS may be new to showrooms, but the luxury brand already has partnered with artist social network deviantART to engage the customization community. The mission: crank up the volume to create even edgier, SEMA-worthy IS designs. Lexus claims that more than 600 submissions were received, and five finalist 2014 Lexus IS designs and a modified Lexus LFA supercar are on display at the show.

Lexus IS 340 by Philip Chase

That’s right, IS340. The chase is on with a 2JZ-GTE engine swap, a Garrett GTX3582R dual-ball-bearing turbo, a Brian Crower valvetrain, and a 3.4-liter stroker kit—good for a claimed 700-plus horsepower. A Modellista ground-effects kit, and carbon-fiber hood vents finish out the silver-and-black Chase IS340, rolling on 18-inch Advan TCIII wheels.

Lexus IS by Gordon Ting

Gimme dat Ting. Gordon upgraded his all-wheel-drive IS with Toyo Proxes TiSports rubber wrapping Rays Engineering Gram Lights, a TRD aero kit, and R100 race seats with an Evasive Motorsports roll cage and harness bar. Under the skin, TEIN USA coil-overs, Brembo brakes, and a GReddy performance intake and exhaust systems add some mean-streets ability.

Lexus IS250 F Sport by Paul Tolson and Gabriel Escobedo

This wide-body Glasurit Orange Mercury and Galaxy Root Beer IS250 F Sport hoovers the Tarmac with an Air Runner Systems air suspension. Custom intake and exhaust systems, drilled-and-slotted Rotara six-piston brakes, and 19-inch Wheel Works USA emotion CR Kiwami wheels complete the mods on this colorful low-runner.

Lexus IS350 F Sport by Seibon Carbon

You’d be correct in assuming that a concept put together by a purveyor of carbon fiber would be jammed with the stuff. The Seibon Carbon IS350 F Sport keeps its steel roof, doors, and quarter panels, but just about every other exterior item (hood, fenders, trunk, side skirts, front fascia lip, roof spoiler, and rear spoiler) is carbon fiber. So are most of the interior trim pieces of this high-fiber F Sport that rides on 20-inch Volk Racing G27 wheels.

Lexus IS350 F Sport by Vossen Wheels

Done up in Platinum Motorsport Lexus LFA Pearl Yellow paint, the Vossen Wheels IS350 F Sport sports Brembo brakes, Tommy Kaira dual exhaust and full aero body package, and RS-R Black-I Series coil-overs. Nitto Invo 20-inch rubber wraps Vossen’s own CVT (a good thing, in this case) directional wheels.

Lexus LFA by Guy S. De Alwis

It’s Spoilers Gone Wild with Guy S. De Alwis’s 2012 LFA. The Artisan Spirits carbon-fiber aero kit features special front, side, and rear underspoilers as well as a rear center spoiler—all in carbon fiber, of course. Toyo Proxes R888 tires roll on 20-inch Work Gnosis HS202 wheels.
