2017 Lexus ES 350

 A new version model of the luxury sedan is out and we are getting the 2017 Lexus ES 350 at our doorsteps really soon. The car made its debut under this name in 2007 and has managed to establish itself as a modern luxury car already which is going to go through and update and an overhaul for its new version. This latest gen model as released in 2013 so it was due for an update.

The Lexus ES 350 made its debut in 2007 for the first time bearing that name. In fact the car goes back to the 1990 model year when it was introduced for the first time and released as ES 250. Except for the badging it was pretty much a Toyota Camry model all-together back then. It was only in 2002 when the model divorced and departed its ways of being a Camry knockoff and went through its biggest style change. A style which was then further un updated in 2004 with its first name swap so we got the ES 330. The ES 350 came in 2007 and it is the model that we see today after two generations of remodeling. The fourth one is still not there year but until we wait for this to happen we can enjoy the updated current version.

The newest model has already been showcased at this year’s Shanghai Auto Show where we got to see the full display of the car. The visual updates look great and the 2017 Lexus ES 350 has certainly gained a lot of aesthetic appeal with the exterior design. They are going to try to attack the rivaling models in the mid-size sedan segment, Infiniti Q50 and Acura TLX, and try to better their sales with the update. So until we wait for the next-gen ES 350 this one will do it quite nicely.

Exterior update

Upon viewing the 2017 Lexus ES 350 we can see that the overall shape and size of the car has remained mostly unchanged, but there are a few bits and pieces added to update the car for the upcoming season. The front fascia has been updated with a new spindle grille kind of a design which is now a bolder looking once piece unit. It is framed by a satin chrome trim and there are the new LED headlamps which have a slimmer design.

The low part of the front fascia sees a newly reshaped bumper with chrome surrounds and headlamps. The rear end has been updated with some new L-shaped taillights and the rear is also very nicely complemented with the added rectangular exhaust tips. The rear end of the car also gets a revised trim and a completely new deck lid.

Some added changes which are in fact option also include the new 17-inch alloy wheels and a choice of four new exterior colors that have been added with the Autumn Shimmer, Nightfall Mica, Caviar, and Eminent White Pearl being offered optionally for you this year.

Interior additions and features

In order to keep the interior of the 2017 Lexus ES 350 neat and fresh the car received certain updates to make this happen. The previous look already gave us a very pleasant and wholesome atmosphere on the inside and it really did not take a whole lot to update the cabin. The design was not changed but there were some new features and finishes made which add Linear Dark Mocha wood and Illustrious Piano Black wood and instead of gloss finishes we get a Bamboo matt instead. The added flaxen interior combines the light brown upholsteries with the black dashboard giving us a pretty great atmosphere with this two-tone combination.

There are various gadgets also added here to compete the whole update with the 2017 Lexus ES 350 now receiving a new connectivity with Lexus Enform Remote and Lexus Safety System+. It offers such additions as Lane Departure Alert with Steering Assist, a Pre-Collision System, Intelligent High Beam and High-Speed Dynamic Radar Cruise Control. The final grand addition is the  Mark Levinson premium sound system and a panoramic roof which is available with the optional package.

Engine specs

As they are keeping their cards for the next generation model, the 2017 Lexus ES 350 is going to keep the same kind of a powertrain that it had before. The model gets the Toyota-based 3.5-liter V-6 which is able to make 268 horsepower and 248 pound-feet of torque. The model with all be updated with eth added VVT-i variable valve timing system and it will use the six-speed automatic transmission used the last time. The EPA specs for the care are going to amount to 21 mpg city, 31 mpg highway, and 24 mpg combined. The ES 300h version of the car is going to come with a different sort of a powertrain set as it uses a 2.5-liter, four-cylinder, Atkinson-cycle gasoline engine . The EPA ratings for this vehicles have been measured at 40 mpg combined and it can speed up to 0-60 mph in 8.1 seconds with a top speed of 112 mph.

Release date and price

The new model 2017 Lexus ES 350 is going to be available next year. With the showcasing of the model already done in China this year we have been waiting to get the release date and we did not get to wait for too long as they already announced that it is going to be available by the start of next year. The price for the ES 350 is set at  $37,700 while the ES 300h version is a bit pricier and will be offered at $40,580 as base MSRP.
