2017 Audi Q3
The 2017 Audi Q3 is going to mark the continuation of the model being released in the US market. Ever since establishing the brand, the car has only been offered in its home country and European markets. The 2015 model was actually the first one to come to America and start the expansion of the brand here. The 2017 Q3 is going to be a facelifted version which is going to continue the popularity of the model and build up on the premise and starting popularity of the car.
Audi Q3 is a compact crossover which started its production in 2011 in the home court and was first released in US as a 2015 model. The luxury-oriented high-stance five-door quickly gained popularity and accumulated a fan base here which is shown by the sales numbers as it proves that the model has gained a significant and a large fan base.
It appears that the second generation is going to make its way here as well as the cameras have caught a glimpse of a heavily camouflaged vehicle doing test runs and bearing an uncanny resemblance on the Q3 model. Even with the camo it is apparent on what they are doing and which are some updates that they are trying to introduce to this model. Making it fresh is an obvious thing that they are planning to do and it is certainly going to continue the popularity of the brand even further here.
Judging by the way the car looks we might get it next season as it is almost near its production level. Here is what we have managed to find out about the car and you can read it all in our review.
Exterior
Even with the spy photos, it is still easy to discern how the 2017 Audi Q3 will look like. It is mostly because the model shapes a look which is going to be discernibly an Audi one. It is fairly similar to the current Q3 model and adds some new parts and characteristics for the car. The headlights are going to have a narrow shape with Xenon bulbs and LED daytime running lights. The car uses a large Singleframe grille and also has the aluminum trim, LED taillights, roof rails and a spoiler on the hatch. The exhaust tips are going to be integrated into the bumper and makes a different type of a rear end for the car that way.
It is also going to mix some details with the Audi Quattro model, which bares resemblance with the model that was released in the 80s. The elements which the Q3 is going to borrow from the Quattro include the flared wheel arches and a rear end of the similar style. The combination of these characteristics that is going to come infused with the old ones makes for a great design of the car. The coupe version has yet to be confirmed nor we are certain whether it will appear but the model is certainly going to grow in size particularly as it is placed in the slot above the Audi Q2 model.
Interior
The 2017 Audi Q3 is going to sport an interior which is fit for the model. It is going to sport an immaculate fit which is going to be graced by some high-class finishes and exceptional materials. The design is actually going to follow the one seen in the Audi A4 version particularly as it has the same steering wheel and the button configuration seen on it. Front and center of the center stack is a large touchscreen and the Audi’s Virtual Cockpit is placed around the gauge cluster area. The leather upholstery is going to be a standard fit for the car and it is also going to come available in various different colors.
Audi also reported that they are keeping their 2017 Audi Q3 as one of the safest cars on the market, which is exemplified by the safety technology upgrades that the model comes with. These include automatic braking, lane-keep assist, pedestrian monitor, rear cross traffic alert and a blind spot monitor. Other technological upgrades will include a Wi-Fi hotspot, Bluetooth connectivity, navigation and voice control. As the model comes with increased dimensions, there is going to be some extra room in the cargo area but the rear seating is also going to be more comfortable and include more space.
Engine
The 2017 Audi Q3 is actually going to keep the drivetrain options for the American market as before, so unfortunately there is not going to be an update with the engine options. This would mean the use of a 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine which is matted to a six-speed automatic transmission and is going to be offered in both FWD and AWD. This would bring the output level to 200 horsepower and 207 pound-feet of torque.
There are talks about a diesel variant also being offered here but there are no confirmation and even if there were there it is surely not going to appear in the US market. Also something that we are not going to get in America is the RS Q3 version which is going to use a 2.5-liter five-cylinder engine which produces 340 horsepower and 330 pound-feet of torque.
Release date and price
The 2017 Audi Q3 starts sales next year. It is going to be released in Europe this year and it will cross the pond and get its North American release date in April next year. The price is a cool $33,700 at entry level and $38,600 for the Prestige version.
